Braunston school’s music curriculum strives to inspire creativity, self – expression and encourages children on their musical journeys as well as giving them opportunities to collaborate and connect with others. We aim to encourage a lifelong love of music by exposing the children to diverse musical experiences and igniting a passion for music. Our music curriculum is entirely embedded in the National Curriculum and is ambitious in what we want the children to learn and remember. At Braunston School, we use Charanga to support our music teaching. This is an on line tool which uses interactive resources, visual aids, hands on musical experiences and the interrelated dimensions of music as the underpinning focus of the units of work. The areas of music, which we cover, are outlined to the left hand side of this page in our music long- term plan. We also have strong links with NMPAT, who provide various musical instrument teaching as a whole class or on an individual basis. To support the teaching of singing, we have a weekly whole school singing assembly and the children sing during Collective Worship. The school choir is open to Key Stage 2 children, who perform at both regional and local concerts. Below are some examples of instruments, which are taught and used throughout the school.
