Our Aim

The Christian ethos of the school is reflected in the relaxed, positive atmosphere. We will provide a safe learning environment in which every child will have the opportunity to develop the skills they need for success in lifelong learning. During their primary years, the children are given many opportunities to demonstrate our school motto We Care as they learn to recognise the needs of others in the local community and the world in which they live. It is our policy to praise and encourage positive attitudes.

Responsible, considerate and polite behaviour is expected of all children in their relationships with one another and adults. This is part of the caring ethos of our school and is reinforced through praise and reward.

Religious Education at Braunston School, through "Growing Together" and "Understanding Christianity" will allow pupils to explore their own beliefs and traditions and those of others in a meaningful and engaging way. It will encourage pupils to grow individually and together with sensitivity and respect towards people of all faiths and none.

What If Learning Project

The school has taken part in a major research project looking at effective ways for developing character education opportunities in schools. We have worked with the DFE, The Peterborough Diocese, The Church of England Education Office and Canterbury Christchurch University. As part of the what if project, children in year 5 created an animation relating to World War 1 – a full version of the animation can be found below. The school's work has been highly commended and the film clip below was shared at the national conference in London as an example of best practice.

School Values

Each month we choose our Value of the Month, which is introduced in assembly and promoted throughout the school.

These values are the Christian values that underpin the life of our school.

Children are rewarded weekly for actions that demonstrate that value. This initiative also builds on our school motto, We Care.
